4: under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, search for Ntreev-> Pangya -> Option (no, don't worry, you cannot do anything funny with the game in here, you can only change your settings, like sound volume, graphic detail by messing around with this)
5: look for mMacro1 to mMacro8, those are your hotkeys, click one of them
6: type \1 (any number from 1 to 9 will do, different number different color), followed by your words
7: restart pangya (if you're running it when doing this), push the hotkey button where you assigned the colored text on

Completed the 1/144 Wild Wurger recently:

For a model kit that's recently produced (late 2005), and costs nearly 3000yen in retail, Wild Wurger is made of meh and mediocrity, when compared to Bandai's 1/144 HGUC line. For those who have no idea what's a Wild Wurger, it's a unit used by Arad Balanga from the game Super Robot Wars Alpha 2/Alpha 3 for the PS2, and SRW: Original Generation 2 for the GBA. Both are superior games that you must play (SRW:OG2 ROMs are everywhere over the internet. ask me if you don't know where to find one :p).

Wurger specializes in close range combat, and it has a partner unit, Wild Falken that specializes in long range combat. Combined togather, they could perform the Twin Bird Strike attack, where Wurger ejects some part of its armor for quicker movement and deploy a pair of hidden wings.

First off, the arms. The shoulder joint is kinda loose, while the Stag Beetle Crusher on its right hand is enormous and too heavy for it to support, so it would look something like this:

Although the joint has a square peg of the polycap poking out, so you could make it stuck on the hidden peg inside the shoulder armor, so it won't look retarded anymore:

The elbow has a very limited movement. It can't even bend 90':

I also find it ridiculous that while they would give loads of tiny parts (the 4 small yellow circular vents on both the shoulder armor, and the tiny square for the yellow part on the skirt armor) but they can't even be bothered with making some armor parts for the Stag Crusher, instead of giving a totaly white claw for it:

Also a word of warning: unlike Bandai kits, there's absolutely no stickers included for Kotobukiya kits. For the eyes, they usually come prepainted if it's binocular visioned, like Wild Falken, Alt Eisen and the Huckebein series, or unpainted, if it's monocular visioned. I has to buy a green Gundam marker to do the eyes and the Stag Crusher's sensor >_>

But regardless, it's still a nice kit with ample amount of details (I LOVE how the triple barrel gatling gun looked on its left hand). A simply must-get for SRW originals fan like me.

Kotobukiya's 1/144 Wild Wurger kit and a MS model stand (also a product of Kotobukiya, I think, as seen from an issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine, although there's no indication of it being made by Kotobukiya on the packaging...(　´_ゝ`)ﾌｰﾝ

The stand comes with 4 holders that requires assembly:

It can supposedly be used for HCM-Pro, MSiA, HG and MG model kits, though I failed to see how for the HG and MG part. Three of the holder things have almost the same size ,with one having a slightly narrower spacing, which fits perfectly on my MSiA. The other two doesn't fit nicely on my HG kits, and even moreso for MG kits.

February's haul:

Kotobukiya-Takara's Devil May Cry 300yen action figure, two loose figures of Chun Li and Valkyrie from Bandai's NamcoXCapcom 300yen gashapon and a Capcom Fighting Jam action figure, 500yen (or was it 600yen?).

For a 300yen item, Bandai really outdid themselves in dishing out some quality figurines, especially when compared to the overpriced Moe-ala-mode crap they've been churning out last year. The figurines are HUEG, and there's no feeling of cheapness from the figurines, given how accurate the paintjob were, and how they even give out a transparent small figure of relevant character for the games the girls were from. Chun Li has a transparent black Ryu (which is also nicely sculpted, the muscles and face are wonderful) on her stand, while Valkyrie has the knight and the-green-blob-sidekick-thing on the other side. Although given its weight distribution on the top, and it being made of normal plastic instead of ABS plastic, they tend to bend abit like my KOF Pinky St. figurines over time >_> (I usually make them lean on solid objects once a while to make them stay straight back again)

Bought them for RM12.90 each (say, USD$3.3). Worth every penny I've paid.

As for the DMC figurine, it comes with 2 version of Dante(s), one for sword/martial art poses, another for gun poses, 2 of the stupid grunt clown enemies in DMC1, and Angello. All of them comes with loads of accessories, like extra arms/hands/weapons/stands/bullet shot effect transparent plastic to perform various poses. The figurines are kinda fragile, and I broke the gun-pose Dante's right foot when I tried to pose it around the first day I bought it (glued it back immediately using plastic cement). Thankyou very much, cousin who has a PS2 in my mum's hometown, whom let me spend most of the Chinese New Year holidays playing DMC3, giving me a sudden urge to spend rape dollars on these figurines >_>...

I've stopped working as the hamper-wrapper guy this monday, mainly because my dad's about to start a new business in selling swiftlet nest-related products, in a small kiosk located inside a shopping mall, and he wants me to help out (the kiosk would start tomorrow, and I'll be pretty much working for the whole damned day, from 9 to 10:30 >_>). Anyway, I've received my salary, amounting to a total of RM568.80 yesterday, and I went to a hobby shop I used to frequent, to buy some sweet sweet model kits and figurines I've always wanted.

The end result:

I've got myself a 1/144 HGUC Advanced Hazel, a 1/144 Wild Falken by Kotobukiya (always wanted a OG2 model kit, though the shop just sold out Wild Wurger, which I originally intended to get along with Wild Falken too >_>), Athena and Mai from Pinky St's KOF special edition, and 2 loose gashapon figurines from Binchotan ver.2 by Yujin. Spent RM250 on all of them.

For the KOF pinky, both Athena and Mai are incapable of standing up on their own, unlike the EVA:cosplay version I have. Thus explains why they come with a stand for their own, which has a peg to be inserted into either one of the foot, as seen here:

Something tells me that future pinky figurines would also be incapable of standing on their own. And somehow I have a feeling that Project Vance (or BabySue, whichever company responsible for the design of the Pinky:st figurines) has already planned for such thing to occur when they first started, as every pinky:st figurines ever produced have both holes of the same size on their foot.

Also, the card for the Pinky figurines itself is rather interesting:

I never noticed that the card has a life bar and power bar printed on it, untill someone over lowyat.net pointed it out some months ago.

DuoPrincess is a Doujin game by EasyGameStation, with characters (two of the controllable characters, anyway) based on a 1999 PSX game, Dewprism (also known as Threads of Fate as its American title).

Given the nature of Doujin games (which are usually one-time production only, and it's pretty much impossible to buy one unless you're in Japan, or know of some rare companies that handles special requests like Himeya.com), and the fact that this game's pretty old already (2003 production), I might as well post a link to get the full game:
You can get the full game here. You need to register for a free account, though. Oh, and do patch the game up to the latest version. Information on how to patch the game is somewhere in the thread provided.

The game's basically a beat-em-up, with 2D sprites and 3D backgrounds (something like Ragnarok Online, only you can't switch camera angles). You're given a choice of two ~~cute, fappable lolis~~ characters to control at the beginning of the game:

Mint's the one to the left holding a ring thingy, Maya's the one to the right. Mint has a melee attack using her rings, whereas Maya has a low damage ranged attack. Maya is supposedly better in Magic, although I think Mint's magic are far more useful.

Like any beat-em-up, numerous enemies would spawn on the map as you progress each stage, with a boss enemy at the end of the stage. There are crates everywhere in all the stages, and in one of them lies a scroll thingy, which would unlock new magic attacks upon collecting them.

Enemies would blow up and burst into dozens of gems which would swirl around you. Each gem nets you 100 points. The game also has a combo system, whereby the more hits you're able to deal in succession, the more points you'll get.

During lunch break at work today (the people over the biscuit shop didn't call me for an interview afterall, so I ended up taking a job as the hamper-wrapping-guy, 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, with a pay of RM800 per month. LOL OMG 13 years of education for this shitty job? I plan to take a part time job too by this Sunday, but I'll leave the whole thing for future posts), I went to this borned-to-be-doomed-shopping-mall (the shoplot designs were horrible, and they're facing fierce competition with the much more well known shopping mall that is Parkson/Mahkota Parade near it), and stumbled upon several pirated CD vendors who sells pr0n blatantly.

Now I know this isn't something out of the unusual already, given teh fact that Malaysia's filled with such vendors. Usually, most of the vendors I saw would go only as far as selling stuffs with things like a sexy looking girl on the cover, but this time's different. One of them have one whole rack full of chinese translated H-games/H-anime (all having their titles edited, I bet, what with titles like "uniformed slave") , all packed in cheap plastic sheets with blatant, b0nar inducing pictures on it. One of them even have a close up of a stereotypical Japanese anime high school girl with blue coat, with her legs wide open and holding her legs in that position by locking her arms over the knees. She's not wearing anything waist down. And her no-no spot was half-assedly censored with a bright white light (though it's still quite small and you can see 'the line' and her cornhole).

I giggled like a junior high boy who was told a lewd joke upon looking at that particular cover art. I mean, can you imagine a less-than-average-in-income family, with the loving father coming to this shop because he thought his 10 year old son would feel bored at home, and decided to buy some random cheap, pirated cartoon VCD for him so cheer him up or something, because he's just such a bastard who thinks that he could just toss away his responsibilities as a father by working 24/7 and buy happiness for his kids by giving them some crappy VCD player and cartoons, and goes like "hey son, let's check out some cartoons that you might want to watch!" and the son would be like "hey thanks dad! Let me go look down the racks to see anything I would like! Let's see... Ninja Power Rangers, Barney, Barney, even more Barney..... Hey dad! Why is this girl lying on the floor showing off her pee-pee to me.... OMG DAD THE GIRL HAS NO PEEPEE!! HOW CAN SHE GO AT THE TOILET?! o_o" .

Still, that particular cover art looked GORGEOUS. Though I didn't buy it because I knew 90% of the contents would be crap, and the only thing worth my RM10 or so would be that particular printed piece of cover art paper thing..... that or because I'm too embarassed to buy H-stuffs in the public >_>...

Also, there's an arcade located at the top floor of the shopping mall. The arcade's rather large, and has around 3 dozens of cabinets, with most of them being cheap pirated knock-offs of the original games (lol Metal Slug 4 EXTRA MODE? King Of Fighters 10th anniversary special, which is just a cheap clone of KOF 2001 with characters who have their color schemes altered?). Anyway, they also have Alien 3: The Gun which I played. It really brings me back to the time when I was a kid, where I went "OMG VIBRATING PULSE RIFLE!" upon playing it. Though I still suck at it. The game's so tough, it's almost impossible beat level 2 while playing alone, what with face huggers spawing all over the place, appearing out of nowhere and chipping away your health bar >_>...

Being the first batch production of the model, the Hazel Custom also comes with an exclusive booklet that mainly advertises the comic book of Advance of Zeta (there are several random pages from volume 1 and 2 of the volume printed on the first dozen or so pages of the booklet), along with some basic information behind the production of the Hazel unit. And of course, knowing Bandai, the last page of the booklet is printed with 2 dozens of the boxes of their other HGUC 1/144 model kits >_>...

Anyway, I've bought both the volumes of the AoZ comic books several months back, and it's quite interesting, really.

But because nobody would be interested in reading a nerdy, in depth review of the books, here, oogle at teh hotness that is Audrey April:

As for the Hazel Custom itself, the amount of details and posabilities on the kit is just jaw-dropping. It's so good, its quality is comparable to a typical MG kit. What's more, there are two specific moulded right hands for it to not look half assed when wielding its weapons (most of the HG/HGUC kits out there have this retarded same set of hands, with one of it having a big, square hole on the middle of it for you to insert a beam sabre, or let it do a retarded clenched-fist-that-looks-nothing-like-a-clenched-fist pose). Although sadly it doesn't come with a pair of clenched hands, thus the model would always either be wielding a beam rifle or a beam sabre on its right hand, and have its left hand always open.

The kit comes with 2 shields, a beam rifle, and a beam sabre.

Behind the Strum Booster (the weird looking triangular shield), there's this little knob where you could nudge it erect:

Day 3 progress, and omgbbq I'm getting a different job instead

Apparently, that friend of dad already have a relative of his own to help out on his job. So I went down to a biscuit shop (or whatever you call, those shops like the infamous Tan Kim Hock outlet that sells biscuits, cookies and stuffs, targetted at tourists, not a bakery though, since they don't have any bread or cakes) for a job interview. They have this HUEG banner outside that pretty much says "lol work for us plzkthxbai".

To my horror, when I stepped into the shop, I saw like, 0 customers, and 2 dozens of teenage promoters standing idly, looking at me, a potential customer. Which was creppy, very creepy, as if they're vultures in the open desert gazing at lone wanderers who are clearly lost in the desert. And I thought it was horrible enough to have a guy in those shoplot in a shopping mall following you all around, constantly staring at you in fear of you being a shoplifter, now I have a dozen or so of them doing the same thing >_>. What's more, they're ridiculously well mannered (where the **** am I? ****ing Japan? o_o)

I've filled in their silly forms, and according to them, I'll be called for an interview sometime soon, and once I'm approved, I'll be paid at RM3.50 per hour (that's liek what, USD$0.92? That's ****ing dirt cheap labor, cheaper than in China lol), and would be expected to work 8 hours per day. Going by that rate, I'll be getting RM840 per month if I were to work my ass off every single day, and more (1.5x the normal pay rate) if I were to go OT. >_>.... working's gonna suck. Oh, and 10% goes to SOCSO, so I'll actually get RM750 or so... ouch.

Anyway, for the progress on the Hazel, I kinda slacked off yesterday night, and got sleepy after completing the left leg for it (it was a major bitch to paint the yellow exhaust vent on the legs, but I'll leave that for tomorrow once I get some pics to tell what I mean).

n00b guide 101 to Gundam model kits

And so it begins, the guide to model kit building that I promised previously:

As a rough intro, if you're a total n00b to Gundam model kits, here's the breakdown of the kinds of Bandai model kits available in the market:
1/144 no grade
1/144 HG/HGUC (High Grade/High Grade Universal Century)
1/100 no grade/HG (the 1/100 model kits used to have a HG label on it. For some unknown reason, it was removed starting from Gundam SEED's 1/100 model kit line, but modellers generally think they're the same thing)
1/60 no grade
1/100 MG (Master Grade)
1/60 PG (Perfect Grade)
Refer here for more detailed information regarding the gradings.

The tools I use when building a kit:

Basically, some paint brushes of various sizes for painting, a side cutter for cutting the parts out of the tree, an Olfa pen shaped hobby knife (don't buy the Tamiya branded ones, they're more expensive and uses the exact same blade as the typical Olfa hobby knife. I got mine at RM12 over Popular bookstores, and it comes with 25 spare blades, all which are very sharp) to remove the excess plastics from the cut parts, some Tamiya acrylic paints (mainly because they're easily available over here. None of the hobby shops here sells other brands ie: Gunze Sanyo), a GM01 Gundam marker for the panel lines, and a cup of water (not in picture) to rub off the excess/misdrawn panel lines when they're fresh.

Even if you don't understand Japanese, which are printed all over the manuals and the box, It's still very easy to build Bandai's model kits, as all the assembling steps are done in AutoCAD, with clearly and accurately printed AutoCAD drawings using arrows and whatnot simple symbols on them:

The parts are also labelled in alphabets and numbers, and the parts are all perfectly moulded so that they could snap togather intuitively.

To remove the parts from the trees, the side cutter is used such that the sloping side of the cutter is facing out of the parts, so as to not damage the parts:

I always leave some excess plastics on the parts to be removed using the hobby pen knife. The removed parts looks cleaner and more even that way:

Now, usually modellers would use fine sandpapers to remove those excess trees from the parts, but due to various bad experiences with using one (I tried using sandpapers several years ago, and I would usually end up sanding part of the surface too resulting in a rough surface), I'd prefer the hobby knife instead.

Sometimes, after removing the excess tree using the hobby knife, a white spot would appear on the cut area, like so:

Tis' problem is easily solved by wetting the area with some water, before gently scratching the white area with my fingernails (I think this is similar to cutting your nails, where your nails would be rough and sharp after cutting it, but becomes blunt and smooth upon washing your hands, or at least that happens to my nails):

To do the panel lines, which is really required to give more depth and remove the toy-ish appearance of the model kit, you could either opt for the enamel wash method, or use a GM01 Gundam Marker (contains oil based ink, with a fine tip, 0.04mm tip, if not mistaken), like so:

I just draw the panel lines, before instantly rubbing the surface with a wet (wetted?) finger or wet tissue paper, because the ink dries off very fast.

A word of warning though:- Always keep the panel lines thin and light. I mean, just look at this ****ing mess:

For some unknown reasons, Gundam model kits in the recent years have V-fins that aren't sharp ended. They have this ugly blob of plastic on the end of the V-fins.

As usual, cut them away with the hobby knife. They're hideous.

Oh, and here's something I didn't really expect from the kit:

OMG the shoulder joint can move! It's engineered to resemble the shoulder joint of the newer MSiA lines (all of GSD's MSiA has them, as far as I know) to allow more posability.

It's been a day already, but still, because I was busy yesterday...

You have no idea how relieved I am upon finishing my paper 2 for Physics at 10:30am yesterday. It feels as if I've lifted a HUEG rock from my shoulders. After yet another 1.5 years of free education for Form 6, I've finally completed it.

And finally, I now have all the sweet sweet time to build teh 1/144 HGUC Hazel that I've bought like, one month ago:

Hay, you know what? Seeing as how there are so many n00bs out there who don't know jack about building Gundam models properly, or hell, just leave a nice HG 1/144 model kit just like that, unpainted/unpanel-lined/unproperly posed.

I pity the excellent Gundam models (particulary Strike Rouge IWSP) being displayed unpainted, un panel line'd, and most of all, being forced into crappy posings with the legs rigidly close to each other.

So yeah, I think I'll be able to make a photo guide for the model building methods that I emply by tonight, so check by later for it. So while waiting for that update, tell your friends about it, tell your colleagues, tell your parents, heck, tell the whole world about it.

Anyway, my dad've landed me a job as an assistant of sorts for some friend of his working in the engineering field (and I was thinking of being a cashier for fastfood restaurants or supermarkets >_>), and I should be working around next monday. So yeah, it's all fun and games for me on ze Intarbutts untill next monday.

As for the gaming side, I've recently got myself Imperishable Night (yay more Touhou goodness! ヽ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ!), and it's AWESOME! It's like a much better version of PCB, with much better character artworks, bullets patterns, enemies, and the backgrounds are much better (I love the stage 4 setting, where you fly across a bamboo field during the night, with the HUEG glowing moon appearing on the upper right somewhere in the middle of the stage). Although I'm having a hard time shifting from max human meter to phantom meter and vice versa when I need it. My finger just get stuck on the shift key too often.

The game(s) are all made by one person who goes under the nickname ZUN (apparently, he's the programmer, director, character designer, music composer, and everything else of the game), and has a cult following in Japan and among a niche group of shooter fans in places like the western countries, HK/Taiwan/Korea.

Despite having a rather plain background and character artwork, the main attraction of the game is on dodging mad amount of bullets on screen, beautiful bullet patterns, and the amazing background music (in its uncompressed, high quality .wav glory, which makes up like... 480MB worth of data compared to the 30MB or so of the actual game data).

For those who don't read Japanese/Chinese (there's kanji in the site, so people who reads Chinese would roughly know what the link does), here's a guide to install the demo(s):

PROTIP:
For those who think that this game is impossible to play, well... actually, in manic shooters like these, it's almost impossible to die because your character/plane would have a very small hit box. A 'hit box' is the area where your character/plane would die if it touches enemy bullets.

For example, look at this screencap I took from one of the games, Perfect Cherry Blossom:

^ notice the small red dot on the centre of the floating girl whom I control. That's the hitbox. So as long as I don't let any bullets touch the red dot or collide the red dot with enemy units, I'm ok.

Although I should mention that the hit box is only revealed if you hold down the shift key (you'll enter the focused mode while holding shift key, and your shots/bombs would have a different effect in this mode) if you were to play Perfect Cherry Blossom. You won't get to see your character's hitbox in other games on that site (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Imperishable Night, Phantasmagoria of Flower View).

And for those who are interested, the Touhou game series first started in 1996 for the PC-98. The series only got popular starting from the 6th game onwards (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, which came out on year 2002), mainly due to the polished graphics, and the fact that all the games from that onwards are supported by Windows.

Anyone here have problems of cockroaches in their room? In the recent years, for some reason I don't know, my room seemed to be a cockroach magnet. It all started sometime last year, when I noticed a cockroach crawling inside the table's drawer during midnight (didn't sleep much in my room anymore since that time), and from that day onwards, it's pretty much easy to encounter one every one month or so.

I just don't get how they spawn out of nowhere. I always cleaned my room, always kept the windows and doors closed, and didn't eat or throw food stuffs in the dustbin (mostly contains eraser leftovers and papers), and pretty much the only problem I have would be the dusts accumulating on my table around my toys. But then, I do clean them up every month, and I don't think cockroaches are attracted to dusts... >_>

Oh, and today, while cleaning my cabinet, I noticed a cockroach egg (ewww, where did that come from >_<), and some smaller black stuffs (cockroach droppings?) among the dirt and spider webs accumulating on the cabinet (and 2 small dead infant cockroaches, probably die of cold because the air conditioner is directly above the cabinet)

Anyway, I'm almost done completing SRW J (currently at stage 40 something). Expect to see more screenshot compilation soon (lol the main character girl and her co-pilots has a NEW bounce scene XD). And yeah, SRW J is pretty easy compared to any other previous SRW series on the GBA. Like for starters, all the bosses won't have insane amount of HP and dodge rate unlike in OG2 (where bosses are expected to have around 200k~400k HP, whereas in SRW J, the highest so far that I've seen is 100k or so).

SRW J (short for Super Robot Wars J) for the GameBoy Advanced just came out recently on 15th Sep (although HK retailers sold it on 14th Sep and the rom's been circulating all over the interbutts on the same day). Unlike Banpresto's previous SRW franchise for the GBA (SRW A, R, D, Original Generation, OG2), they've put huge amount of efforts in cramming all that animation in the GBA. All the units are animated down to the most basic vulcan canon attack, and when they get hit, or dodge an attack, you see the units moving their body, instead of just moving the whole sprite.

Oh, and before the game launched, there was a controversy about the game not having the 'three holy trinity' of SRW (that being the Getter Robo units, UC Gundams, and Mazinger Z, all three of them appeared in every SRW made till date), although the fans are quite okay with it right now after playing it. It's always nice to see Banpresto giving us something new for a start.

Apart from SEED, here's the other main 'attraction' for the game:

So what's so special about the three main character's co-pilot girls, you ask? Well... Banpresto copied the whole bounce animation concept from Alpha 2 and 3 for the female main character/co-pilots:

(why yes, you'll be treated with the focus of the girl's bewbs that bounces for no apparent reason when you use certain attacks for your main character unit)

When you first started the game, you'll be given this screen, whereby you could choose 3 of your favourite series so that the units from the series would gain more experience/money per kill, and have additional upgrade slots:

I'm currently on stage 21, and here's some impressions of the game:
- OMG battleships are now actually useful! Their hit rate is so high, it's not even funny.
- finally, we get Mazinkaizer units, and Kouji Kabuto that actually looks badass like in the OVA

- Shining Gundam got nerfed. Shining Finger now does crap damage, and Shining itself has a low dodge rate
- the girl co pilot in the green suit is hawt
- BaCue(s) and Lagowe are cute!
- OMFG! They even have Bonta-kuns and the mafia mobs, as seen from FMP Fumoffu
- the SEED units are a rather flamboyant bunch. Strike, Duel and Aegis would do the infamous shooting pose as seen on SEED's official art after spinning around and shooting some shots with the beam rifle
- Mazinkaizer is AWESOME, and the same applies to pretty much every other super robots. unlike in SRW D, SRW F, F Final (for the SegaSaturn or Playstation) which I've played, super robots in this game have a higher hit rate, and they can survive multiple hits before blowing apart
- the girl co pilot in the green suit is hawt
- Mazinger units have Fire Wars (the OP theme for Mazinkaizer OVA) as their default BGM. the music is awesome as hell
- I have a problem with the in-game cutscene of Kira going SEED whenever he hits 130 morale. He looked spooky <_<
- did I tell you guys how hawt the the girl co pilot in the green suit is? >_>

Just got myself a Takara World Tank Museum #2 (a winter color schemed Joseph Stalin 2 m variant, JS-2m) and the Chinese translated version of Dengeki Hobby, July 2005 issue. The tank costed RM10 (USD$2.8) and the magazine, RM15 (USD$4).

That particular issue of Dengeki Hobby comes with a free Figumate figurine of the purple haired girl, Nodoka Miyazaki from Negima. The figurine comes in a box located behind the magazine, and they're shrinkwrapped. There's a hard cardboard thingy made to snugly locate the box in the middle, to prevent the magazine from bending, like so:

The figurine is rather small, and comes pre-assembled. Notice the cardboard piece inside it to further prevent the box from being squished due to mishandling:

Anyway, if you happened to see this particular issue being sold in your local bookstores/comicshop, buy it, INSTANTLY. It's worth every penny that you've paid for .More of the Figumate figurine sets would be coming out in the market eventually, and Konami sells them for 300yen, (RM12?) each, in pretty little boxes, packed randomly, so that you would end up buying dozens of it, and getting the same figurine over and over again.

As for the tank:

Takara World Tank Museum series are a series of prepainted tank miniatures scaled at 1/144, produced by Kaiyodo. AFAIK, it's rather popular among Japanese collectors, and series #7 is the latest set. It comes in a fancy box (retail price is 250yen per box, and that's dirt cheap already, for the amount of detail on the tanks, and for the tot bits of information that they give out in the box's content), and inside the box, there's a folded vignette that mainly describes the technicalities and battle tactics of tanks in WW2, a small pack of green goo thingy (according to the vignette, it's paint for you to paint on your tanks), and the miniature tank itself in a plastic card.

Doujin shooter fans rejoice, Murasame has released a new game. Hirogata Happa is the name, and the demo is available for download at the bottom of the official page. The full game will be sold on CD Rom, presumably at the next comiket, for 1,000 yen (less than US $10).

Typical of any Japanese doujin shmups (lol shrine maiden series), it features trillions of bullets on screen for you to dodge. I would post some screencaps of it, once I figured out how to take screencaps in the game >_>

PROTIP: When your flow bar is maxed, suicide crash into enemies to bomb. NOT BULLETS. You lose a life, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO KILL BOSSES ON TIME.
Also, staying in an enemy's circle will create a field in which bullets are slowed down dramatically.
Oh, and first option at the title screen is New Game.
Second option is Continue.
So don't get bummed if you Game Over at say, Level 3 or something.

Shmup review #1: Strikers 1945

Strikers 1945 is a shmup made by Psikyo in 1995. It was among the shmups to feature the charge-shot mechanism, whereby upon powering up your planes, you can hold down the A button, causing your sub-planes to do a formation in front of you, and release it, to unleash a special attack.

The Story goes something like this:
The war is finally over. Jonathan Striker can go back home for a much deserved rest. Or so he thought. A new threat has emerged from the ashes of the second world war. It seems that pilots on both sides have turned against their comrades without reason or provocation.

Although they are more technologically advanced, Striker does not believe that this force is being lead by someone from the future. Strikers has formed a new team comprised of ace pilots from all over the globe. Each pilot brings their unique abilities and ace flying skills to the team. With Striker's heroism in the war, his fellow pilots thought it would be appropriate to name the team after Jonathan. The team is called Strikers. Striker must now lead the Strikers and find out who, or what, is behind this uprising.

Actually, before coming up with this title, which eventually spawned off 2 more sequels due to its success, Psikyo worked with Capcom to produce the 194x (there's 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944) series, where you control a P-38 WW2 plane. So yeah, the Strikers 1945 series are based on the 194x series, although rather loosely, as the styling changed, along with the bosses, which I'll go on later.

There are six planes to choose from, each of them based on real WW2 planes: There's the American P-38 lightning, North American P-51, Allied's Spitfire, German's Bf-109, and Japan's Zero and Shinden (the plane with a rather unorthodox design, it's a shame only two prototypes were produced, and none of them got deployed in the battlefield)

Each of the plane has its own unique weapon, sub-weapon, charged shot and bombs, and their speed differs too, with Shinden being the fastest. As you get power up items, your normal shots would get larger/more powerful and mini planes would appear around your fighter, which would be responsible for performing your charged shot attacks.

In each stage, you'll be shooting down loads of WW2 themed enemies, such as planes, tanks, 1950's buildings that hides cannons in it, untill you reach the stage boss. In the beginning, the bosses would look like an average WW2 plane/tank/ship, like in this stage here, where the boss is a zeppelin:

Like in every other shmups, the boss has various forms (as you can see from the picture, there's a turret, followed with more turrets after the first one's been destroyed). However, unlike other shmups, all the bosses here would have a robot as its last form (lol, technology in WW2 is so sophisticated that they could fit a robot in a zeppelin):

Eventually, you'll get into space (lol WW2 planes can fly in space!) to fight against the aliens who caused all the military aircrafts to go haywire and caused all the problems in the first place. And apparently, the uber space aliens have this fetish towards crabs. I mean, in its first two forms, it looked exactly like one!

Once you've defeated the last boss, you'll see a report on how well you've performed on all the stages. And depending on your performance, you'll get to see your pilots um..... dressed or undressed. Hay lol wait, pilots, undressed, you say? Why would I want to see naked men who piloted the aircrafts? Well.... actually 5 out of 6 of the pilots are females, and the remaining guy is a cho-aniki lookalike Psikyo comic relief character named Aine (also featured in Gunbird 2, Sengoku Ace 1 and 2, and most of Psikyo's H-mahjong arcade games).

And because it's a real bitch to complete the game under one credit (another one of the requirements to strip your pilots down to its least clothed form), I shall give ye the compilation picture of the pilots in the ending:

Remember those games that are particular popular in the arcades back then when arcade gaming is still popular, around the mid 90's, where your objective is to control a plane that's capable of shooting infinite amount of ammunition, shoot down thousands of enemy planes/buildings untill you meet with the hugeass boss, while in the same time all along, dodging assloads of slow/fast, glowing bullets from the enemies, like so:

Well, those genre of games are categorized as shoot'em up games, or shmups, as many would prefer to say. I love these kind of games. Shmups are, at their heart, the last existing pilar of oldschool gamedesign and minimalist inginuity. Nothing can get simpler than a game where the only thing you do is move around your ship, tap a button to shoot, and tap the other bullet to drop a screen-effect bomb. And besides, given their nature, not much of a dedication would be required to enjoy the game. Like lightgun games (you know, those games in arcades where you hold a physical gun and blast stuffs on the screen?), the only thing you'll need to complete the game, or survive as long as possible, would be your concentration.

The simplicity of shmups are in contrast to, say, fighting games like the King of Fighters series, or the Street Fighter series, where you have all sorts of button combos and techniques to contend with, most of which won't make much sense to a person that doesn't have a semi-intimate knowledge of the game. There's definately a lot more of "Hey, how'd he do that?" moments in fighters.

Besides, most important of all, I grew up playing shmups in the arcades (ah yes, the good old days when a game costed only RM0.50, as compared to thesedays, a game would cost RM1 to RM2), mainly because playing fighter games is a bitch for me back then when I was younger. It's so frustrating and difficult for me, that I always ended up smashing the buttons and moving the joystick at random.

Anyway, recently, I've been downloading dozens of shmup titles on MAME to relive my childhood experiences. So yeah, I think I'll be making a review of some of the titles that I really like hopefully tomorrow, on a daily basis ~~because I'm a bored out geek who has too much time to spend~~ out of love for the genre itself.

Flipping though today's The Star newspapers, I came across this little piece of news, regarding several ministers who were disappointed with the fact that most teenagers thesedays know the names of those Akademi Fantasia (think of it as yet another clone of those singing competition reality show, American Idol, or Pop Idol, if you haven't been brainwashed into thinking that American Idol is original) finalists better than the names of the current ministers in charge.

Nonono, something must be wrong here, have our ministers lost their most fundamental ability to reason, at all? I mean, look at that Akademi Fantasia shit that has been going on, look at the amount of fans it generated, look at the amount of hype the stupid mass media has generated, or heck, just look at Astro and their endorsement of the show. I swear I can't watch a good show on Astro for one hour without seeing one of their AF commercials, with the most recent one selling their overpriced cheaply-made-in-china merchandises (lol a water bottle with the AF logo on it selling for RM20+?).

If these ministers who bitched in that article have any reasoning skills at all, they'd knew that ofcourse everyone's gonna know the name of some of the finalists, instead of the names of their ministers. Why? Just look at the publicity the contestants get (particulary those few finalists before the show ended). Compare that to that random minister of a random department in Malaysia, who have barely got himself/herself any publicity at all. Then, there's the interest factor, did they seriously thought that everyone is interested in knowing their name? Heck no! Everyone knows teenagers these days, who are mostly formed by a bunch of morons who buys whatever crap the mass media shoves at their mouth, aren't interested in boring ministers, mostly comprised of 50 year old farts. They're all interested in music and entertainment! Regardless of how shitty the music or lyric is, or regardless of how a whole album is filled with only 1 good song, and 12 other shitty filler songs, they're still gonna buy it cause it's sung by their favourite artiste!

It's people like those ministers who pisses me off. It feels as if for all their bitching, they really just did it to get whatever publicity they could.

Gawd's gift to GBA users?

So I recently got this game (don't ask me how I'd managed to get the game when I don't even own a real, physical GBA, okay? >_>) for the GBA, entitled Riviera: The Promised Land. Because the game was far too awesome, I've decided to make a review of it, like right now. And why yes, since this is probably the first time you've ever seen me going gaga over a game, that pretty sums up about the degree of awesomeness of the game. So here:

Riviera is your typical run-down-the-mill Japanese RPG game, whereby you assume the role of yet another 15 year old kid who's a savior of humanity or some shit though some plot twists/plotholes/fiendish schemes from the developers or something. But unlike most of them that I've played thus far, Riviera runs on this unique system, whereby instead of having direct movement of your character, you'll be presented with two or so arrows denoting where you can go. And when you see any item of interest (say, a treasure chest, a key lying around on the floor, a crack which you may want to examine), you don't get to directly interact with it. Instead, you'll need to hit the A button to go into "Look" mode, and spend one TP everytime you pick up an item from the floor/examine at that suspicious crack on the wall/open a treasure chest, among other things that you could do.

You can earn TP points during battle, which is my next subject. For most of the time, upon encountering enemies (with the exception of quest enemies whom you must beat), you'll be given an option to fight or run. And remember what I've said just now about this game running on a unique system? Well, before proceeding to the battle screen, you must choose 4 items from your inventory to be used in battles. It could be a combination of any items you have. And all of the items, with the exception of your main character (Ein)'s weapon have a limited amount of usage before it disappears.

Also, in this game, instead of killing your foes to level up, you level up only by using your items until you've mastered it . There's an experience bar on your status bar when you highlight a weapon, indicating your mastery on said item. If it's completely filled, then you've mastered the item and would gain some stats, along with a unique skill for that item.

What's more, the game also has this "trap sequence" kinda thing, where you could decide on your party's fate by entering the codes when required, like so:

And as if those weren't enough, the other main attraction for this game would be the cutesy anime styled cutscenes and character portraits employed, and the fact that everyone who would be joining Ein, the protagonist whom you control, are hawt/cutesily drawn girls. Everyone knows ogling at cutesy girl portraits = timeless fun... >_>

I had been browsing LUE, because I've been waiting for my psychologist call and update me as to what the oneirologist said. Anyways, after a while, I got really hungry. I got up, and went to make a sammich. While I was eating it, my dog came over to me, so I chucked him a piece of bologna. On my way back to the computer, I noticed that my brother had just gotten home from his date with Cheryl, his girlfriend. He looked pretty depressed, and didn't even say anything to me. I didn't think much of it, and I went back to the computer. After a while of browsing LUE, someone IMed me, and asked me if I heard what happened to my brother. It turned out that when out on the date, Cheryl admitted to my brother that she had been cheating on him. My brother just strarted swearing at her, and told her it was over. I assume that's about when he came home. Anyways, I decided that I should try to go and comfort him. He and Cheryl had been going out for 3 years, so it must've really hurt when he found out that he had been cheating on him.

I went upstairs, into his bedroom. His door was closed, but I knocked, and he didn't reply. I opened the door, but he wasn't there. I sat on his bed, and started to think about where he might have gone. I knew that he must've still been in the house, because I never heard the front door close or anything. All of a sudden, I heard a squirt, and then the covers on his bed started moving. Around then, I noticed that his room really stank. It was an almost inhuman smell. I was scared. Was there a zombie in my brothers bed? I quickly ripped off the covers, only to find my dog quivering in a pool of diarrhea.

"****," I thought. I knew he was allergic to bologna, why did I give it to him earlier? I stripped my brother’s bed, and started to take the covers downstairs to the laundry room. When I got to the laundry room, I put all the covers in the washing machine, and started it. The soap smelt so much better than the diarrhea. It was a bit foamy looking, though. I went back upstairs, to get my dog. I grabbed him, and took him outside. I hosed him down, and then dried him off. He still smelt bad, but hey, wet dog still smells better than diarrhea. Too bad I smelt bad. I guess some of the dog crap rubbed off on me when I picked him up earlier. I went back inside, and went into the bathroom. I stripped off all of my clothes, and jumped in the shower. It was a really hot shower. The mirrors and windows in the bathroom all started to fog up. As I was washing, I started to have a little too much fun “down there”. As I was finishing up, I heard a deep rumbling.

“Dammit!” The washing machine must’ve been unbalanced. I ran downstairs, still covered in a bit of foam, and just wearing a towel. I got to the washing machine just before it moved too far away from the wall. On my way back to the bathroom, I saw my brother.

”Nice abs,” he said. I don’t really have abs, there’s just a faint outline of them. Anyways, I told him I wanted to talk to him afterwards. I went back into the bathroom, and got dressed. I was still wet though, and my t-shirt was wet enough so that you could really see the outline of my upper body. I went to my brothers room, expecting to see him there. He wasn’t. I thought for a bit, then decided to go get changed. I’d just wait and see where my brother was. I walked upstairs, and went into my room. Instead of finding a new shirt like I had been looking for, I found my brother.

“It’s really hot in here,” he said.

”Sure is,” I replied, “It’s always hot in the afternoons. The sun shines right into that window.”

He motioned for me to move closer to him. We ended up both sitting on the bed.

“What was it you wanted to talk about?” he asked?

“I heard about Cheryl… I just wanted to know you can talk to me.”

“Oh, thanks. I really don’t have much to say. I hate that *****. That’s all. No problem here. I’m better off without her.”

“Okay… Well, you were going out with her for 3 years… Didn’t she matter to you?”

”Not really, no. I had just been using her the whole time. I used her for BJs. And occasional sex.”

”Are you serious?”

“Yeah, I didn’t like her at all, really. I’m just not into that kind of thing.”

”What ‘thing’?”

”Chicks.”

He started moving his hands, but to my surprise, he ripped off his face.

Last friday's purchase:

She's Honey/Candy, from the old 3D fighter game, Fighting Vipers, by Sega back in the 1996's. Her name's Honey, for the original Japanese version of the game, and Candy, for the American version of the game (bleh, Americans always must nitpick copyrights for everything >_>). She's also featured in Fighters Megamix, another old 3D fighter game by Sega released in around 1997, featuring all the characters from Fighting Vipers and Virtual Fighter, also featuring craploads of secret playable characters, like Janet from Virtual Cop, Pepsiman, a stuffed bear/panda, and most of all, a Dytona USA car (ZOMG! UNPOSSIBLE! D:).

But why, oh great ysy, why do you regard yourself feeling ike a pervert for buying this? It doesn't look perverted at all (or much, if you'd rather have it that way)

Well, it's because... I've also bought the alternative version of it. Behold! The near-nekkid Honey!

For those who didn't play the game, in Fighting Vipers, all the characters have somesort of body armor for their upper and lower body. After being hit hard (usually special moves hitting the same spot), the characters' armor would burst off according to their respective body parts. So... yeah, that's how Honey/Candy looked like when both her upper and lower body armors are gone.

MS Igloo is a new Gundam OVA-like kind of thing that came out recently. It's animated in full 3D, just like their previous Evolve series, although the Igloo lasted 30 minutes, compared to the 5 minute or so Evolve clips. IIRC, there's going to be a total of 6 episodes of the OVA (or movie, whatever).

MS Igloo is sort of a side story to the original Gundam (think Gundam SEED Astray series, the plots and characters in the side story is important, but they never make any on screen appearance in the anime series), with the main characters from the Zeonic front. The story's about the deployment of Zeon's new weaponry (that was never heard about in the original Gundam series) during the One Year War.

The first episode of it was subbed by cellphone^2 (http://tinyurl.com/bmkd2 ) just recently, and I'd recommend everyone to watch it, particulary those who only knew about Gundam via. SEED or Wing. The awesomeness of UC demands that you watch it.

Having seen the first episode, I must say that it's just downright remarkable (despite the occasional stiff movements of some of the characters). The animation is wonderful, and the battleship battles were VERY well-done, both the small one at the start of the first ep and the entire Battle of Loum. Oh, and you'll know the reason why Mobile Suits replaced conventional battleships/aircraft/tanks/military weapons if you watch the episode.

And the Char cameo was great.

Hooked on Capsules

(The Sunday Times) THE latest craze in town has youngsters toting around bags of one-dollar coins and spending thousands of dollars on little plastic capsules.

They are hooked on Gashapon - vending machines which spit out capsules containing collectible toys from Japan when fed money.

The unusual name comes from the 'gasha-gasha' sound of the knob turning, and 'pon', the sound made when the capsule falls into the slot.

In these plastic balls are anime and toy figurines, mobile phone straps and other collectibles.

Each capsule costs between $1 and $8.

Shops which have these machines always attract excited groups of youngsters, who scan them to see what toys are on offer.

More than 30 new designs of capsule toys are put out every month, and shops say people turn out in droves on the first day they are available.

One shop, Anime Fable at Far East Plaza, has 50 dispensers. Collectors buy as many as 400 capsules in a day when new toys are introduced, the shop said.

Gashapon vending machines were first introduced in Singapore two years ago. There are now at least 800 such machines scattered across the island.

Some shops have nothing but these machines - Gacha Toy Room at The Arcade has 100 of them.

Other shops such as Anime Fable at Far East Plaza and Collectionz at Jurong Point stock mainly these machines but also sell related goods.

The vending machines can also be found in Toys 'R' Us and Comics Connection outlets.

What makes Gashapon so addictive is the sense of uncertainty.

Collectors never know which toy will pop out of the machine, and are forced to keep feeding coins in order to get the entire set of toys.

'I like the thrill of not knowing what I'm going to get,' said Evon Ng, 21, an undergraduate and Gashapon fan.

Guo Peiyun, 20, an architectural draftsman, has spent at least $2,000 over the last two years and has more than 600 capsules to show for it.

Every time she goes on a Gashapon expedition, which is about twice a week, she brings along a torchlight to shine into the machine and figure out which toy will roll out of the slot next.

'Usually I'm determined to get the full set of toys,' she said. 'If the set is incomplete, I don't feel satisfied.'

She collects Disney and Sanrio toys, including Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty.

Kirby Lin, 21, started collecting Gashapon toys when he was 17 years old and has since spent more than $8,000 on his hobby.

'I collect bigger toys too, but Gashapon are easier to keep and display. They collect less dust and are very detailed,' he said.

He also buys Shokugan or candy toys, which come in boxes.

They cost more - between $2 and $15 - because they tend to have more complicated designs.

The collectibles range from figurines from movies such as Alien vs Predator to miniature replicas of vehicles, groceries and animals.

Like Gashapon, Shokugan has the element of uncertainty - collectors never know which toy they will get in the box.

So some youths have come up with ways to beat the system.

Some, like Peiyun and her friends, empty the entire machine of about 50 capsules in one go. They take what they need to complete their sets and then sell the rest.

Others go to shops which are savvy enough to offer whole sets of the toys - at twice to three times the actual cost.

There's even a website, www.katoots.com, which Gashapon fans can visit to exchange the latest news about toy collectibles and buy or sell toys.

It is an absorbing hobby, said Kirby, who is currently serving his National Service. Half his monthly army allowance of $700 is set aside for Gashapon and Shokugan, and he used to do part-time work to afford the toys.

He said: 'Yes, it's a lot of money. But when I get the toy I want, I don't feel the pain of the amount I spent to get it.'

His mother doesn't object either.

Housewife Jasmine Yuen, 46, said: 'At first, I thought it was a waste of money and rather childish to be collecting toys at his age.

'But every weekend, when he returns from camp, he would stay home and meticulously clean each toy, instead of running out and mixing with bad company.'

Exclusive anime phone cards in Japan...., I want! D:

So as we all know already, there are tonnes of shops selling all sorts of anime collectible shits in Japan, especially in Akihabara. And to cope with the competition, most of the larger shops would give out exclusive items for the buyers to encourage them to stay loyal with the shop, ranging from louzy loyalty cards that gives little discounts, to cheap little figurines.

And among those exclusive items, phone cards are the most common item given out. From what I've read from another blog sometime ago, he was given a set of phone cards to choose from upon paying for his stuffs, with phone cards having pictures ranging from a loli doing something cute, to those ecchi stuffs, to even, pictures of hentai scenes.

Anyway, the point is, I've found a whole website archiving the pictures of all (or almost all, o_o) of the exclusive phone cards given out by anime/manga stores over the course of several years. And I think it contained some nice pictures that ~~people who don't have a life, like me, who has a fetish towards unreal, hand drawn females with ridiculously large eyes~~ everyone should have a look at.

So it's May already, and just yesterday, Kaiyodo, being a famous toy manifacturing company in Japan (a compilation and picture of all the products Kaiyodo has produced thus far) made an official release of their newest product, the "ANA Uniform Collection", which focuses on cute anime-styled girls in ANA (a Japanese airline) uniforms over the decades.

From what I've heard, the airline company sells the set in their airports (most obviously), while other shops who are interested in selling them could get them at a limit of 300 boxes (ie: 300 sets with random figurines in each box). Each figure is about 10 cm tall, and costs 400yen per figurine. Although, the official site of it says nothing about overseas purchasement via. Internet.

It's a neat idea, really. Not only would it make good souvenirs for the passangers, it would also attract figurine fans over in Japan, just because the girls happened to have that stereotypical anime/manga looks that happened to be cute and generally appealing to most of the people out there. So I was halfway watching the Apprentice season 2 on TV8 just now (yeah, I know, I'm a fag, I love watching a stupid reality TV show featuring another fag who goes around boasting about his riches, buildings, home, apartment, etc., although he's just slightly richer than that Indian guy who owns Astro in Malaysia), and there's a young Malay couple walking into the shop, whom which I served to (the secretary girl usually does the customer serving part, but since she's on the phone... >_>)

The guy asked gazillions of questions about the phone's pricing, which really annoyed me, because as like every other customers who asks ALOT of question about phones and their prices, he don't intend to buy one anyway. But luckily, he bought a RM10 handphone prepaid reload coupon (what's the deal with the low prices anyway? It seems that EVERYONE is whoring on the lowest possible price for their reloads. Whatever happened to money value? Buying a RM30 reload coupon would last their phones for one whole month, whereas a RM10 coupon would last them for one week... but I digress), which I gave to the secretary girl.

Just when I thought that guy's done with buying already, he just must ask me for a leather phone casing. Can't he just leave me alone watching that faggotry-infested TV programme? So I bought him a box filled with leather casings for him, and he goes on fitting his phone into each and every casing available in the box, which lasted for 10 more minutes in addition to the 10 minutes he's already wasted my time on (and that time, the TV's showing Ivana performing that buy-my-chocolates-for-20-bucks-and-I'll-strip-my-skirt trick... :( what a disappointment I can't watch that scene properly)

Long story short, he finally chosed a casing that he liked, and pays for it, while asking if he'd already paid for the previous reload coupon.

"OMFG? Did he paid for it? How much was that coupon again?"- was the line that flashed in my mind when he asked.... o_o

I was truly perplexed, as I've forgotton if he did paid for it or not. It was not untill I asked the secretary girl do I know that he paid. Imagine if they were to be con artists who kept quiet about their previous purchase of the reload coupon...

I find it amazing that I have such a bad short-term memory... T_T

Members of Parliament — from both sides of the parliamentary divide — spent the morning session of the Dewan Rakyat today criticising the media, in particular the New Straits Times, for having "humiliated" them.

Of late, MPs have been expressing unhappiness with media coverage of their debates and criticisms against them in newspapers.

But the article that sparked today’s rampage against the media was a column by NST senior editor Zainul Ariffin, headed "Our MPs are not ready for prime time TV", which led to Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang demanding that action be taken against the writer.

Lim, who dramatically waved a copy of the New Straits Times in the air when debating the Supplementary Supply (2004) Bill 2005, said Zainul should be brought before the Committee of Privileges for "humiliating MPs".

In his more than 40 years in the Opposition, Lim has always tried to portray himself as a champion of Press freedom.

First, we have the Khidmat Negara issue, then we have the whole huu-haa made about the LRT ad because *someone* just MUST nitpick on everything. Later on, we have the issue about changing the radio station's name because it allegedly "affect the audiences' moods", before having yet another minor, should-not-have-been-existed issue about changing the Penang's George Town to something else, because it reflected our colonial past by the Brits (oooh, ironic innit? On one hand, we have almost everyone making claims on newspapers about how bad Japan was for whitewashing their history textbooks).

As if those weren't enough already, just recently, we have another case about MP(s) reprimanding the MAS airlines to change their female flight attendants' uniforms because it's "too sexy, and has a tendency to cause rape cases occuring in the airplane", and now THIS?

To think that they want a 10% raise on their income for all their deeds so far... >_>

I've been keeping a constant eye on hobby magazines like these since several months ago. I have always wanted to own some of them, due to their quality printing, and the free gifts they give. The whole toy-with-a-magazine thingy is a hype among Japanese magazines these days, like the infamous PC Magazine, which included a Harabeno-girl-on-a-toilet-seat figurine, which was quite popular among Japanese toy fansites sometime ago. (you know, Harabeno? That girl who used to be a mascot for some Japanese spicy snack product or something?)

But anyway, I've saw the Dec+Jan issue about a month ago, on the comic shop I frequent that sells figurines, but I didn't buy it, for I was skeptical with it being translated into Chinese, thinking that it was a cheapass pirated copy of the Japanese magazine, complete with half assed Chinese translation.

How wrong I was.

It was only after checking several websites, and some talk with another guy who collects Dengeki Hobby magazines over the katoots forums ([url]www.katoots.com[/url]) , did I realise that there's an official Taiwan based company that buys the publishing and printing rights for Dengeki Hobby Japan. So yeah, I was pretty much upset the following day, as the magazine was already sold to someone else already.

Fast forward to 3 days ago, I saw two issues of the magazine being sold for RM15 each at another comic shop near the bookstore where I just bought my STPM exercise aids. So yeah, you could pretty much figure out how euphoric I was at the mere sight of the magazines.

Now to the magazines:
Dengeki Magazines features news and photos for upcoming products and custom modifications by professionals. It mainly focuses on Gundam models, with 3/4 of the contents dedicated to it, while the rest, on real-life scaled model warships/Transformers/Super Robots/Star Trek space ships/Resin model/etc.

The Dec+ Jan issue mainly focuses on the (then) upcoming Gundam SEED Destiny products, from the MSiA(s), to the 1/100 kits.

The issue also gave out a free PVC Alt-Eisen figurine from the Super Robot Wars: Original Generaion game for the Gameboy Advance.

It's actually pretty small, and came in several parts that were ready to be snapped togather. Its parts were packed inside a thick box, with another set of thick, square cupboards inside it, to prevent the box from being crampled. Very thoughtful.

While for the Feb issue, it features a 1/100 Astray Out Frame mod, 1/100 Force Impulse mod, and the 1/60 PG Strike. A MSiA Sky Grasper was given out with this issue:

*ps: moreover, RM15 is like half of the original pricing already. The retail price for each issue is 288 Taiwan Dollars, which would be around RM34.

KUALA LUMPUR: Policemen are allowed to give those detained at police station lock-ups a crew cut for purposes of discipline and hygiene, Federal CID director Comm Datuk Fauzi Shaari said.

He said even if a person was detained only for a day, the officer-in-charge of the police station could still use discretion to give the detainee a haircut.

“Under our lock-up rules, police can give detainees a crew cut. Most of the time the lock-ups are very stuffy due to overcrowding and the haircut will help,'' Comm Fauzi said when contacted.

He stressed that the “crew cut ruling” applied to all detainees, including those detained by other government agencies and kept under police custody.

Comm Fauzi was commenting on two recent incidents where detainees who were given crew cuts had protested.

On March 31, 15 students who were hauled to the Gombak district police headquarters after being allegedly involved in a fight with another group of youths were given crew cuts.

This angered the parents.

On March 22, a 45-year-old ex-civil servant, who was arrested by enforcement officers of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for having pirated VCDs, was given a crew cut at the Kajang district police headquarters.

Wait, wasn't it mentioned recently that the Malaysian police forces are lacking in workforce, and have too many problems at hand? And YET they are so nice to give a free haircut for detainees, under the lame excuse that:“Most of the time the lock-ups are very stuffy due to overcrowding and the haircut will help,''?

Is that even an excuse, at all? Seriously, what does hairstyles have anything to do with overcrowding, or stuffy? It's just hair, god damnit, hairs that grows on the head, and takes up only the vertical spaces! It's not as if an area that's stuffed with people would *magically* became wider once everyone who's stuffed in there gets their hair cut.

And besides, is this constitutional at all? What right does the police forces have to change one's hairstyle? The next thing we know, detainees would get a free 5 hour worth of Islamic sermon in the jail. That may sound ridiculous, but hey! They already came out with forceful haircuts already, what's going to stop them from going further? :p

Basically, a bunch of plain clothed police raided a Cyber Cafe in KL during midnight, and demanded everyone there to undergo a urine test, without showing any warrants, or their identification, other than showing off their guns tucked into their ragged clothes.

They were very rude to the patrons there, and even demanded the shopkeeper to shut down the surveilance camera upon their arrival. And to top it off, they even dared to peek at everyone peeing, "just to make sure", even the girls.

Oh well, so much for the "Cepat, Cekap, Mesra" slogan the government has set for the Malaysian Police Department.

ZOMG! Lunamaria Zaku MSiA! O_O

Bought it yesterday night at Malacca's Jusco for RM49.90. Quite a bargain, I must say (cheaper than the retail price for about RM4~7, something that never happened before for Gundam models sold at such places).

I was always curious with Bandai's MSiA line, and I feeded my curiosity today by getting the red Zaku warrior (they don't have the green zaku warrior... yet). First of all, I must say that it stinked real bad when I opened the transparent box thingy that's holding the figurine. It seems that they've used some cheapass smelly paint to do the paintjob.... But meh, I'm used to such scent already, being the owner of several other gashapon/trading figures that has similar scent upon initial opening of their packages.

I pity those underwaged Chinese kids who worked their ass off for a whole day painting this back in China, and eventually get killed by the noxious smell of the paint

^ O_o.... either MSiA(s) didn't scale the original MS' heights correctly, or they are really just that small. Zaku Warriors are supposed to be 20.5m, by the way (standard UC MS would be around 17~18m).

Hell yeah! Beat that UC Zaku!

You know what? MSiA(s) aren't that bad afterall. Perhaps I should get the rest of their stuffs, like Dagger L, GUaiZ R, Strike, Sword Impulse, etc.

Oh, and now to wait for the green Zaku Warrior to be available, to do a double launcher thingy strike with the red Zaku, ala Super Robot Wars style.
